bee-it has today announced the launch of its new group-buying service for schools, The Hive.

The Hive, which offers schools the opportunity to purchase educational hardware and software at significantly discounted prices, has been established to meet the growing need for affordable technology in schools amid increasing funding cuts and budgetary constraints.

By securing the best possible deals with popular and well-known technology suppliers, The Hive provides an alternative avenue for procurement that enables schools to group together to achieve considerable savings on technology products. Where once this type of deal was only available via local authorities and confined to a specific geographical area, The Hive enables schools throughout the UK to join together to enjoy the discounts on offer.

Furthermore, with no tie-ins or future commitments required, schools can opt to take advantage of offers as and when it suits them, with no obligation to purchase anything further through The Hive.

Where The Hive differs from popular mainstream group-buying websites commonly offering one-day deals, is that all deals available through The Hive will be procurable for three weeks, giving schools the opportunity to assess the product and have the relevant internal discussions.

Speaking about the launch of The Hive, director of bee-it, Bryan Plumb commented:

“It’s no secret that schools are finding themselves financially squeezed at the moment and are struggling when it comes to procurement, especially when considering often expensive hardware and software.

“The Hive has been designed to relieve some of this pressure by offering schools the most cost effective procurement model with the opportunity to invest in products that may have previously been considered out of their budget range.

“We’ve worked hard alongside some of the most popular leading technology suppliers in the country, and indeed the world, to secure the very best deals available and we hope that this enables schools to successfully enhance their current technology provision.”

bee-it trialled The Hive concept in June and received an overwhelmingly positive response from the sector.  Cherise Duxbury, who purchased the Rising Stars’ ‘Switched on ICT’ scheme through The Hive for her school, High Lawn Primary School in Bolton, commented:

“The great discount I received on this product meant that we were able to purchase the scheme at a very competitive price. In today's world of ever-shrinking budgets, The Hive means that as a school we no longer have to buy through the local authority, but can take advantage of the group-buying concept, purchasing essential hardware and software resources at a substantially discounted rate.

“Aside from the discount, the simplicity of the process, quality of customer care and the quick delivery made this excellent value. I look forward to using it again in future.”

Visit The Hive now to take advantage of savings of up to 45% on products from big names including Channel 4 Learning, Classroom Monitor, Encyclopedia Britannica and EMAS UK!
