Health and Safety

Becta is not the government body dealing with health and safety issues. Where we become aware of potential issues relating to the use of ICT, we raise them promptly with the appropriate safety body and act on their advice.

Along with the Health and Safety Commission (HSC), the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is responsible for regulating the risks to people's health and safety in the workplace.

In schools, the local authority or governing body retains overall responsibility for health and safety management but may delegate certain tasks, such as risk assessment, to the head or classroom teacher who holds the day-to-day responsibility for ensuring that ICT equipment is used correctly and safely.
