Simply Efficient has announced a new development to its monitoring and assessment system, PIMS, which will enable school development plans to be linked directly to classroom practise.

The new secure online School Development Planning tool allows the status for each objective in a school’s development plan to be automatically highlighted and made available for review by relevant stakeholders. At the same time a whole host of evidence – ranging from clips from the classroom to school policies and documentation produced by the senior management team – can be viewed at the click of a button.

The move follows feedback from a school that purchased PIMS to help monitor school development and suggested that, as well as tagging evidence of learning to objectives for pupils, there was potential for pieces of work and examples of classroom practise to be linked directly to criteria accociated with the School Development Plan.

Co-founder of Simply Efficient and creator of PIMS, Julian Barrell, said:

“It always comes as a pleasant surprise when someone spots an opportunity to develop something that you have created to enhance its usability.

“The focus of PIMS has always been to provide a simple way for teachers to evidence pupil attainment, using strategies such as APP. The inherent simplicity of the system means that it can provide an excellent solution for host of evidence based assessment needs, from school development plans to interactive sticker books that pupils can access to upload examples of work they are most proud of.

“It is anticipated that this new aspect of PIMS will help schools to unleash the real potential of PIMS.”

PIMS was developed by a teacher, for teachers, and compliments all approaches to teaching. By endeavouring to keep PIMS as simple as possible, it allows teaching professionals to focus on using their time more efficiently.
